Mass Media Purposes

 Information

Social media websites like Face book have given us the chance to communicate ideas, facts and details of our lives instantaneously across the world. If used properly and responsibly, there is nothing wrong with social media sites. They allow us to communicate with friends and relatives we might otherwise be out of contact with

Computers have freed up our lives in the sense that it allows us to make appointments, keep calendars, write documents and work from home. We have resources at our fingertips by simply typing in or google the information we want to know about or research. We no longer have to pull out the books or dictionary; it is all on the computer. It is a phenomenal time saver in respect to getting things done. Our smart phones are equipped with GPS and help guide us in the right direction and can tell us the best restaurants to eat at in the closest 10 miles or so.

Entertainment

Television records our favorite shows while we are at work or away and entertains us with what seems like endless channels and movies at our fingertips. Families play interactive games on the Wii and video games keep children and some adults engrossed in the game for hours. Movies and DVD’s are watched in the comfort of our homes, on 50” HDTV screens in surround sound. We have video cameras that are the size of our cell phones and camera’s that download pictures to the computer. When we are away from all the convenience we play games on our cell phones or text madly.  Our IPods let us download all of our favorite songs and listen to them wherever we are. Our lives are infiltrated with all of these leisure’s of the time we live in.

Education

Today’s classrooms are equipped with Computers and Smart boards that help to better teach the children and bring learning to a whole new level. In some schools the kids are supplied with their very own laptop to research, learn and do homework on. A new and innovative tool that is in many classrooms today is Skype, which allows the teacher and students to communicate with schools around the world and expose the children to what different cultures are learning and how they live. Currently right now my son is in a Chinese online class that is taught by a Chinese teacher in china. The possibilities seem almost endless in what we have and can achieve in this new and exciting technology era
